A Warm Invitation to Church

This blog has been permanently relocated to https://www.removingbarriers.net Redirecting in seconds... Matthew 4:19 (And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.) “I do not care if you ever darken the doors of my church.” I would often say this to folks I am sharing the gospel with. My wife Jay did not like the tone of that statement and asked me to stop saying it. Tone aside, however, I mean it. I first said it to a person who accused me of evangelizing because I want more people to come to my church so offerings can increase. Our youth pastor lamented in a recent sermon, “We invite folks to a location rather than to the Person of Jesus Christ. That captures perfectly what I have felt all along. Too often, Bible believing Christians make it a habit to invite folks to a location. I decided years ago that I will never invite anyone to church without first tryin

Salvation: By Works?

This blog has been permanently relocated to https://www.removingbarriers.net Redirecting in seconds... Episode 32 DW joined us in this episode of the Removing Barriers Podcast where we discussed whether salvation is by works or by grace alone through faith alone.   We looked at a number of good works and searched the scriptures as to whether they are capable of saving us from eternal separation from a holy God. Some of the good works we looked at are: Keeping the Golden rule or the 10 Commandments Giving Money and/or Time Making Religious Pilgrimages Proselytizing Religious ceremonies Baptism and why was Jesus baptized We then explored the scriptures to determine if salvation is by grace or by faith. Are the books of James and Romans contradictory? Was Jesus proclaiming salvation by works when he declared, “I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat?”   What about the Old Testament? Was salvat

This blog has been permanently relocated to https://www.removingbarriers.net Redirecting in seconds... Episode 31 In this episode of the Removing Barriers Podcast, MD joined us in discussing the circumstances surrounding the shootings involving Kyle Rittenhouse. Was he at a protest protected by the first amendment or was he at a riot? What difference will that make in is trial? We then looked at all the charges against Kyle Rittenhouse and offered our verdict in the court of the Removing Barriers Podcast: Innocent or guilty? Murderer or self-defender? The episode ends like we end all others: with a clear presentation of the gospel. Contact us: Leave us a vo

Black Lives Matter - and the Police

This blog has been permanently relocated to https://www.removingbarriers.net Redirecting in seconds... Episode 30   BLM - 5    The police has been the target of much social backlash recently. A lot of that backlash has come from the Black Lives Matter movement. Technology has made it quite easy to run into our own corners and just talk with folks who agree with our stances. Therefore, we at the Removing Barriers Podcast wanted to give the police a voice to share their side of the story, to share their heart on the matter.    In this episode of the Removing Barriers Podcast, we sat down with Officer CigarBro (obviously not his real name and his jurisdiction will remain unknown). We discussed why he became a police officer, the dangers of being a police officer, and general policing practices. We also discussed the procedures to follow if pulled over and how to respond and behave with law enf

The Barrier of Experience

This blog has been permanently relocated to https://www.removingbarriers.net Redirecting in seconds... "We have also a more sure word..."—2 Peter 1:19   So many people rely on their experience more than the Word of God. The apostle Peter, however, exhorted his readers that though his firsthand experience was a reliable eyewitness account, God's Word was "more sure." The Bible is completely reliable and trustworthy. It was a brisk morning. I rapped on the door to a nice home in a newer development on the outskirts of Great Falls, Montana. A lady in her mid-thirties answered, and her husband was inside near the door as we spoke. I quickly found out they were Mormons. When I inquired as to how she thought she was "saved," she mentioned several experiences she had since becoming Mormon. I referenced the verses that make up the context in which 2 Peter 1:19 is n
