A Warm Invitation to Church

My wife Jay did not like the tone of that statement and asked me to stop saying it. Tone aside, however, I mean it. 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 declares “Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.”

If there was ever a person who epitomized the phrase “And such were some of you” it would be DW. DW was a fornicator and an enemy of God before he was “washed” and “justified” when he came to a saving knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ.

DW is a former Marine, a father, and a husband.  He has a desire to serve the Lord and evangelize the lost. He regularly shares the gospel of Jesus Christ, the same gospel that change his life, and seeks opportunities to do so.

We took that statement and dived into whether he was correct in his analysis.  Furthermore, we used Coleman Hughes’ messy experiment by comparing 2nd generation Caribbean American culture to that of the African American culture.
