A Warm Invitation to Church

This blog has been permanently relocated to https://www.removingbarriers.net Redirecting in seconds... Matthew 4:19 (And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.) “I do not care if you ever darken the doors of my church.” I would often say this to folks I am sharing the gospel with. My wife Jay did not like the tone of that statement and asked me to stop saying it. Tone aside, however, I mean it. I first said it to a person who accused me of evangelizing because I want more people to come to my church so offerings can increase. Our youth pastor lamented in a recent sermon, “We invite folks to a location rather than to the Person of Jesus Christ. That captures perfectly what I have felt all along. Too often, Bible believing Christians make it a habit to invite folks to a location. I decided years ago that I will never invite anyone to church without first tryin...

Jacob Blake and the Value of Compliance

Episode 26

Could the shooting of Jacob Blake have been prevented if the officers had disengaged? On the other hand, would the situation have played out differently had Jacob complied? In this episode of the Removing Barriers, we discuss the circumstances surrounding the shooting of Jacob Blake and the values that compliance can buy a person when dealing with the police.

We also looked at other officer shooting incidents and discuss whether compliance would have changed the outcome.

Is compliance to law enforcement officers a bad thing? Does it change the outcome of the situation? Listen to this episode as we discuss Jacob Blake and the Value of Compliance. We ended the episode with the inevitable submission and compliance to Jesus Christ. You can either submit to him to as savior today or submit and comply to his lordship as a judge later. Which will it be?

Nika Holbert: A Soul for which Christ Died

This blog has been permanently relocated to https://www.removingbarriers.net Redirecting in seconds... Episode 35 In this episode of the Removing Barriers Podcast, we discussed the shooting incident involving Nika Holbert and officer Baker.  Rather than focusing on facts versus misinformation, or even on who was right or wrong based on those facts, we focused on the human beings involved. Human life is precious. So precious, in fact, that God sent His only begotten Son to die for us. In this episode we addressed the calloused comments made about Nika, the dangers of looking at the facts and neglecting the human being behind the facts, the cultural aspects that may lead to people like Nika, what things can be done to reach folks like Nika, and what she should represent to Bible believing Christians. Introduction to the Removing Barriers Podcast

This blog has been permanently relocated to https://www.removingbarriers.net Redirecting in seconds... With the civil unrest,  heightened political climate, changing American culture, and the inability to act ually go door-to-door witnessing due to COVID-19, my wife and I decided to start a podcast with the sole purpose of sharing the gospel by addressing the many obstacles preventing others from seeing the cross of Jesus clearly. In Acts 2, Peter preached to the Jews and presented to them Jesus Christ the Messiah. This was because the Jews already knew about God the creator, sin, and sin's consequences. The barrier that needed to be removed was whether Jesus was the Messiah. Contrast that with Acts 17, where Paul preached to the Athenians and defended the faith by proving that the unknown God they ignorantly worshiped was the creator of the world. Notice that while the message of the...
