A Warm Invitation to Church

This blog has been permanently relocated to https://www.removingbarriers.net Redirecting in seconds... Matthew 4:19 (And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.) “I do not care if you ever darken the doors of my church.” I would often say this to folks I am sharing the gospel with. My wife Jay did not like the tone of that statement and asked me to stop saying it. Tone aside, however, I mean it. I first said it to a person who accused me of evangelizing because I want more people to come to my church so offerings can increase. Our youth pastor lamented in a recent sermon, “We invite folks to a location rather than to the Person of Jesus Christ. That captures perfectly what I have felt all along. Too often, Bible believing Christians make it a habit to invite folks to a location. I decided years ago that I will never invite anyone to church without first tryin...

The Origins of Sin and Original Sin

Episode 23

Series: Sin and Personal Responsibility - 2 of 3

What is original sin? What is the origin of sin?  What are the ways we can commit sin? Is there such a thing as a sin unto death? What is the unpardonable sin? What is man’s responsibility in all of this? Is there such a thing as the free will or free agency of man? In this episode of the Removing Barriers podcast titled the Origins of Sin and Original Sin, we set out to answer those questions and much more. This is the second part of the a series we are calling Sin and Personal Responsibility.

DW joined us again in this episode to help tackle these questions.

We concluded the episode with a clear presentation of the saving gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Black Lives Matter - An Introduction to the Movement

This blog has been permanently relocated to https://www.removingbarriers.net Redirecting in seconds... Episode: 3   Series: BLM - 1 In this episode we touch a little bit on the history of Black Lives Matter (BLM), we then distinguish between Black Lives Matter the phrase and Black Lives Matter the Movement.  We then dive into the BLM mission statement and compare and contrast their mission with the Bible.  Further, we looked at BLM ultimate mission of black supremacy and called out BLM for their racist agenda.  We concluded by showing how different people groups (commonly called races) came about as the Bible teaches in Genesis -- then ended with Christ's death, burial, and resurrection from the dead for the salvation of all people groups -- All lives matter to Jesus -- and all can be saved if they trust in him.   To leave us a message or...

Introduction to the Removing Barriers Podcast

This blog has been permanently relocated to https://www.removingbarriers.net Redirecting in seconds... With the civil unrest,  heightened political climate, changing American culture, and the inability to act ually go door-to-door witnessing due to COVID-19, my wife and I decided to start a podcast with the sole purpose of sharing the gospel by addressing the many obstacles preventing others from seeing the cross of Jesus clearly. In Acts 2, Peter preached to the Jews and presented to them Jesus Christ the Messiah. This was because the Jews already knew about God the creator, sin, and sin's consequences. The barrier that needed to be removed was whether Jesus was the Messiah. Contrast that with Acts 17, where Paul preached to the Athenians and defended the faith by proving that the unknown God they ignorantly worshiped was the creator of the world. Notice that while the message of the...

The Barrier of Experience

This blog has been permanently relocated to https://www.removingbarriers.net Redirecting in seconds... "We have also a more sure word..."—2 Peter 1:19   So many people rely on their experience more than the Word of God. The apostle Peter, however, exhorted his readers that though his firsthand experience was a reliable eyewitness account, God's Word was "more sure." The Bible is completely reliable and trustworthy. It was a brisk morning. I rapped on the door to a nice home in a newer development on the outskirts of Great Falls, Montana. A lady in her mid-thirties answered, and her husband was inside near the door as we spoke. I quickly found out they were Mormons. When I inquired as to how she thought she was "saved," she mentioned several experiences she had since becoming Mormon. I referenced the verses that make up the context in which 2 Peter 1:19 is n...
